When i was three i used to go to matches with my Grandad who was the Match Secretary for Bridgnorth Angling Society. One time he was landing a fish, swung
the landing net around and knocked me in :( He said "get out quick before the maggots eat you !!".
When i was about nine or ten i asked Him to teach me how to fish. Started off as a Member of BAS, like my grandad, and fished commercials / Bridgnorths pool
(well it was then). Enjoyed catching small carp / roach / perch ect ect, back then my PB was a massive 2lb !! On my light elastic pole that put up quiet a
fight :). Never really got into river fishing back then, i tended to loose too much tackle just for a couple small chubs :( When i was 14 i gave up with
fishing for a couple years until i finished my GCSE's. I rejoined BAS and started Barbel fishing, mainly at night (Not BAS water as that's no night
fishing). Caught a few splashers, biggest one was around 7/8 lb mark. Also enjoyed fishing the pools too, especially my Dad's work's syndicate pool,
which is rammed with carp to 10lb, easyily caught on the surface. Also caught my first seafish last year, a one poundish bass, caught on a mall sea float off a
pier in Great Yarmouth :)
This year 2009, i fancied a change from carp and while on a walk with a friend came across some beautiful lakes in some woods a couple miles from where i live.
I found out which club controlled them and joined Kinver Freeliners Angling Club. I'd only caught one tench previously and on my first visit to the lakes,
which was a special eel fishing night, i managed around a dozen between 3-5 lb. They instantly became my new favourite species to catch. I was purely amazed at
the fight they gave me. I Also carried on with the barbel, managing a few more splashers when the water was up.
This year i was lucky enough to get into the University of Portsmouth to study mechanical engineering. I'm hoping to get involved in Formula Student, which
is a voluntary group of people in certain universities, who design and build single seater, open wheel race cars to compete against each other. I also plan to
take up sea fishing while I'm down there, hopefully with more luck than i have with barbel !
I also enjoy playing the guitar, bass, drums and keyboard and hope to get into a band at university. I love a wide range of music from The Stone Roses to
Slipknot and Oasis to Pendulum. Haven't played a gig though since March 2006 !
I love all motor-sport (NASCAR aswell !! It helps me get to sleep ), F1, BTCC and WRC are my favourites though. I've always been a fan of Ferrari, even
though they haven't done as well this year unfortunatly, and Vauxall Racing in BTCC.
Thanks to everyone on here whose been helping me out this season, cg74, barbelwalker , Bill, Deano and last but not least Scuba. Means a lot you guys taking
the time to PM me and answer my questions.
Oh and Tarquin, for my 24 ban from the darkside, yow c00nt !!
